The Bronx Center for Science and Mathematics (BCSM) is a public high school located on Fulton Avenue in the South Bronx in New York City. BCSM was founded in 2005 as an empowerment school and currently has 444 students and 26 teachers. As an empowerment school, BCSM's principal and teachers enjoy considerable freedom to build a unique and innovative curriculum and learning environment.

Ed Tom, the founding principal, created BCSM to provide a superior educational experience to public-school children. His dream was to make the sort of rigorous, small-school experience offered by the best private schools available to students in one of the most challenging neighborhoods in New York City. BCSM is an unscreened school, which means that it takes students of all levels of educational achievement. The principal, staff, and teachers at BCSM are committed to a holistic approach to education, one that meets the emotional, intellectual, and social needs of their students. By immersing students in a culture that privileges academic achievement and personal growth, BCSM seeks to graduate students who will succeed in college and beyond and who will become productive citizens. BCSM's motto - 'Whatever It Takes' - reflects the dedication of everyone at school to helping students achieve success.
Scores on standardized tests such as the New York State Regents and the SAT rank BCSM as one of the best high schools in the Bronx, and independent consultants working for the New York City Department of Education have given BCSM the highest possible rating.
